hosttech was founded in Richterswil in March 2004 and became a GmbH in 2009. It sells shared web hosting, servers and domains, and unusually for a host of its size it owns its facilities outright rather than renting rack space.

DATAROCK in Nottwil occupies a former Swiss Army military hospital fifteen metres underground; DATAPARK in Wädenswil has run since 2014; a third site in Appenzell is Tier 4 certified and carries a photovoltaic facade. Webhosting runs PHP with configurable settings and Git integration, and the plan pages carry a “swiss hosting” certification asserting that data stays in Switzerland.

Worth knowing

Only those three Swiss sites could be confirmed. hosttech is described elsewhere as running data centres in Berlin and Vienna, but no page on hosttech.ch states it, and the data-centre URLs that would say so return 404. The Salzburg, Berlin and Cologne addresses the company does publish are offices, which is a different claim from a facility.

Shell access begins at the second tier, so the entry plan is a control-panel and FTP arrangement. Round-the-clock cover is a written emergency ticket raised in the customer centre; the phone line keeps weekday office hours.
