Hostinger

Hostinger is a Lithuanian budget host selling shared, cloud, and VPS hosting plus a website builder, all administered through its own hPanel control panel.

Penny prices, DIY service.

Hostinger began in Kaunas, Lithuania, in 2004 as Hosting Media, a bootstrapped company. It launched the free host 000webhost in 2007 and took the Hostinger name in 2011, together with hPanel, the control panel it built in place of cPanel. The about page and the Wikipedia article both give this history. The company is headquartered in Vilnius and has never been listed. Its founders and team hold the majority, and a private equity firm holds a minority stake. 000webhost closed in 2024, and its domain now points at Hostinger.

The range is shared and cloud hosting, managed WordPress, VPS, email hosting, domains, and an AI website builder, all run from hPanel. Shared plans come with PHP and Node.js, MySQL, a shell, Git integration, and a built-in CDN, with a domain, mailboxes, and SSL bundled. Data centers are in Europe, North and South America, and Asia. A shared or cloud plan picks one at order time and can be moved later from hPanel, as the server locations help article describes. A public API, an official CLI, and an MCP server reach the same account from outside the panel, described in the developer docs. Support is by live chat around the clock, in many languages.

Worth knowing

The headline price needs a four-year prepayment. The renewal price is printed beside it on the plan page, so the second-term cost is visible before checkout. Every plan carries a 30-day refund window.

In August 2019 an unauthorized party reached an internal server and, through it, a database holding client usernames, emails, hashed passwords, and IP addresses. Hostinger published its own account in a blog post within two days, reset every client password, and stated that payment data is held by third-party processors and was not affected.
