Umbler was founded in Brazil in 2015 and bills hosting in a way that is unusual for the region: account credit is topped up in the panel and hourly consumption is deducted from it, closer to a cloud meter than to a monthly plan. Each site runs in its own resource-scoped environment, and the size of that environment sets the rate.

The product is PHP hosting specifically. Deploys go over git or SFTP, there are one-click installers for WordPress, Laravel, Drupal, Joomla and other PHP applications, and support runs through chat.

Worth knowing

The company’s centre of gravity has moved. Umbler Talk, a WhatsApp customer-service product, is the headline offering on the site, and hosting is a secondary line.
