Surge
Static publishing from one command, free for the basics, running since 2014 with no visible change in ambition.
Static files published from a command.
Nothing here puts less between a folder and the web. What a heart means here
Surge publishes a folder of static files with one command and has done so, largely unchanged, since 2014. There is no dashboard to learn and no build step to configure: surge in a directory puts it on the web, with a custom domain and an SSL certificate for a surge.sh subdomain at no cost.
It reports 3.45 million projects and nearly 17 billion publishes, which for a tool with this little surface area is a good argument that most static hosting could be this simple. Paid plans exist for custom SSL and extra collaborators; the free tier is the product most people meet.
Regions are recorded as not applicable — files are served from Surge’s own network and no location is offered as a choice.
