A listed company reports its results, which makes it the only ownership type where an outsider can check whether the business is healthy. It also answers to shareholders every quarter, which shapes pricing and support in the ordinary way. Being listed is not a criticism: some of the largest and most reliable providers in the register are public companies, and so are some of the ones whose prices climb steadily.
