Bare metal is a dedicated physical machine rather than a slice of one. No hypervisor sits underneath, so there are no neighbors to be oversubscribed against and the performance a datasheet claims is the performance available — which is why it turns up under databases, game servers, GPU work and anything with a licensing model that counts physical cores. Everything a VPS asks of its customer, this asks too, and provisioning takes minutes rather than seconds. Several providers here sell both, so a record carrying this often carries VPS as well; the difference worth filtering on is that one of them is a machine and the other is a share of one.
