Tornado VPS
Self-managed Xen virtual private servers for Linux and the BSDs, trading as Tornado VPS since a 2022 rename from Prgmr.com.
Root on a Xen VPS. Same hardware, new name.
Tornado VPS sells self-managed virtual private servers built on the Xen hypervisor, for Linux and the BSD family, sized from a single small instance up to larger multi-core packages. Full root access and an SSH-based virtual console are standard on every plan, and the documentation covers OS installation, rescue mode and console use rather than billing questions.
The company traded as Prgmr.com from its founding in 2005 until a 2022 rename to Tornado VPS; existing services kept the same hardware, IP addresses and account credentials, and only the domain names and billing interface changed.
Worth knowing
Plans are billed monthly, with a discount for prepaying a year, and a one-week money-back guarantee. Payment is by card, PayPal or Bitcoin. Neither page states how many people run the company.
