Tornado VPS sells self-managed virtual private servers built on the Xen hypervisor, for Linux and the BSD family, sized from a single small instance up to larger multi-core packages. Full root access and an SSH-based virtual console are standard on every plan, and the [documentation](https://tornadovps.com/documentation) covers OS installation, rescue mode and console use rather than billing questions.

The company traded as Prgmr.com from its founding in 2005 until a [2022 rename](https://tornadovps.com/blog/2022/03/16/tornado-vps) to Tornado VPS; existing services kept the same hardware, IP addresses and account credentials, and only the domain names and billing interface changed.

## Worth knowing
