A British private-equity firm, recorded here because it owns Hosting.com, the group assembled by acquisition that traded as World Host Group until 2025. Oakley carved Webcentral out of its Australian listed parent in 2023 alongside the hosting entrepreneurs Tom Strohe and Jochen Berger, and merged it with World Host Group the following year, as its portfolio entry sets out.
Worth knowing
The same firm assembled WebPros from Plesk and cPanel between 2017 and 2018, as Oakley’s case study describes, and sold the majority to CVC in 2019 while reinvesting as a minority partner, per its sale announcement. A minority stake is not ownership, which is why WebPros names CVC as its parent and not Oakley.
