Managed databases
Somebody has to run the database.
An application platform that runs no database is one invoice short of a working setup, and pricing pages rarely say so plainly. Recorded here are the engines the provider operates and patches — not the ones a customer may install themselves, which is a fact about having a shell rather than about the host. Engines rather than a yes or no, because “has a database” is not the question anybody actually has: a project needs PostgreSQL or it needs MySQL. Kafka and the two search engines are not databases and are listed anyway, since the question being asked of them is the same one — does the provider run it, or is it something to go and buy elsewhere.
