# Payment

Read off the checkout or the billing page rather than the logo strip at the foot of a pricing page, which describes what the payment processor can handle and not what this provider will take. **Card** is the default answer and rarely the deciding one; the other four are where a provider is open or closed to a particular buyer. A **bank transfer** is how a finance department of any size pays, and a host that cannot invoice against one is closed to that buyer whatever else it does well. **Direct debit** is the European habit for a recurring bill and uncommon elsewhere. **Cryptocurrency** turns up at the two ends of the market, among hosts selling to customers without a card and among those selling anonymity as a product. What money is asked for is [currencies](/currencies/).
