Somebody has to apply the security updates, and there are only two answers. **You** is a machine with root and a sysadmin job attached, whether or not a control panel automates the routine parts and whether the unit of deployment is a host or an image — a tool that makes the work easier does not move it to someone else. **Provider** means the operating system is not the customer's concern at all.
