Owns the hardware means racks the company is responsible for; resells someone else’s means a layer of software over capacity rented from a larger cloud; you bring your own means the product is the automation and the infrastructure arrives from the customer’s own account. More than one can be true at once, and often is. This is the field that most often contradicts a marketing page, and jurisdiction claims in particular depend on it: a platform in one country running on a hyperscaler’s region in another is a common shape. Reselling is an ordinary way to build a hosting platform and several of the best-regarded ones do it — the point is only that a reader weighing regions needs to know which layer decides where the data sits.
