## Notes

bplaced is a German host, operated from Vienna, offering a permanent free hosting tier alongside a ladder of paid plans. The free Freestyle tier carries storage, a couple of databases and no advertising; the paid tiers scale up from there, adding storage, databases, SSH access, cron jobs and email as the price rises. Pro is billed monthly with no minimum term; Max and the plans above it carry a one-year minimum. Business, Enterprise and an education-priced EDU plan sit above Max, aimed at agencies, resellers and instructors respectively.

The stack is PHP-based, with MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL and SQLite available as managed databases. Domain registration is sold as an add-on, and the Max plan and above add IMAP and webmail email hosting.

## Worth knowing

SSH access and cronjobs are reserved for the Max plan and above; the Freestyle and Pro tiers work over FTP only. Contracts on Max and above renew automatically for another year unless cancelled six weeks before expiry, and bplaced's terms rule out refunds beyond the statutory 14-day withdrawal period on a new consumer purchase.
